Air Conditioning Maintenance in New Jersey
The humidity sets in from June to September, and you want your system ready for it. That is what routine air conditioning maintenance in New Jersey is all about.
At Platinum HVAC, we put in the work on residential cooling equipment throughout the state, nipping weak airflow or worn parts in the bud so a hot weekend doesn’t become an emergency with no cool air to be had. We have been local, licensed and insured since 2003.

What AC Maintenance Does for Your Cooling System
Helps Catch Small Problems Before They Become Repairs
Keeps Airflow Strong Through the Summer
Helps Lower Energy Waste From Dirty or Overworked Parts
Supports a Longer Life for Your AC System
What's Included in an Air Conditioning Tune-Up
We cover the whole cooling system, from the condenser out back to the wall thermostat. Here is how we go about it:
Check the Thermostat and System Controls
We make sure the thermostat is reading the room and telling the system to turn on when it should. A miscalibrated one will waste energy running a fine AC at odd times.
Inspect Electrical Connections and Safety Components
Summer breakdowns are frequently the result of a worn contactor or loose connection. Our techs will tighten the terminals, test the capacitor, and check the safety switches so the unit will shut down if there is trouble.
Clean or Check Coils, Filters and Condensate Drain
Dirt builds up on evaporator and condenser coils over a season and hampers heat transfer. We clean the coils and give the filter a look. The condensate drain is flushed too; a clog there is the usual culprit for a system tripping off and putting water on the basement floor in mid-summer.
Test Refrigerant, Airflow and Temperature Split
We read the airflow at the registers and check the refrigerant charge. A healthy system should show a 16 to 22 degree drop across the coil. If the charge is low, it is a sign of a leak, and your cooling capacity suffers for it.
Inspect the Outdoor Unit Before Peak Cooling Season
The condenser is out there all year, taking in pollen, grass and road grit. We clear the fins and check the fan motor so it can breathe. For units near the coast where salt air is more corrosive, we take a closer look.

Signs Your AC Needs Maintenance Soon
You will see a few telltale patterns when air conditioning maintenance has been put off too long. The system isn’t on its last legs, but these are problems that will only worsen with time.
Weak or Warm Airflow
If the air feels softer or warmer than it should, you likely have a dirty filter, a low charge or a coil in need of a good cleaning. A proper tune-up will put your mind at ease as to what it is.
Bills Going Up for No Reason
Your cooling bill is up, but your habits haven't changed? Then the system is putting in more work than necessary. We usually find the culprit to be a lack of refrigerant or some grime on the parts.
Odd Noises and Odors
Don't put off a musty smell from the vents or any rattling and buzzing. The noise is often a part that is loose or on the way out; an odor can mean there is mold in the ductwork or on a wet coil.
It Won't Cycle Off
An AC that runs nonstop is somewhere losing its efficiency. By the time you make a note of it, ac maintenance you are looking at a bigger repair than you would have had if you had a spring tune-up.
